Day 151/365 – On the mundane

Recently I listened to a podcast about our attitude towards doing the ‘mundane’ things in life. You know: washing the dishes, feeding the cat, parking the car…etc. All these things that make up 90% of our lives, without a burning desire for us to do them, but they must be done for life to go on. No matter who you are and what you do, you just can’t get around doing the mundane things once in awhile!

What you can do, however, is change your outlook on it. Instead of saying to yourself, “I have to do this,” try saying “I get to do this.” Just changing one word in that sentence, changes the whole perspective doesn’t it? It’s making it seem that you’re not burdened, but privileged. You get to clean the house that you’re grateful to be living in. You get to cook for your family and share a pleasant meal together. You get to run an errand in your car, or on the subway in the great city you live in. Gratitude is everything.
