Day 169/365 – On Lavender

6/18/17

Today I’m focusing on Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia). This well-known herb is a popular choice for dish soap, bath soaks, aromatherapy and has many other household and therapeutic uses.

  1. Antibacterial, antiviral, antidepressant, carminative, nervine

  2. Antispasmodic, soothing to gut – treats dysbiosis, diarrhea, gas, nausea

  3. Aids digestion

  4. ‘Stagnant depression” – combine with damiana, holy basil, rosemary (David Winston)

  5. Very strong – fragrant, aromatic – high in essential oils, use sparingly and boil only slightly to preserve volatile substances

  6. Best as aromatherapy – Put plant in pillowcase or dab slightly as diluted essential oil → carry around

    1. Stress headache: make tea and soak washcloth or put 1 drop of essential oil

  7. Children may find it stimulating
